My last little piece of vacations in Slovenia – Velika planina. I never imagined I’d be traveling alone and I definitely never thought I’d be hiking! I always hated hiking. That is – until now. I read somewhere the other day that Slovenians are not proud enough of what we have – our stunning nature. The author argued that we should appreciate our land just as much as we do a trip to Côte d’Ivoire.
It’s true – we don’t value enough what we have. I think I only noticed how lucky Slovenians living at home are, after I’ve moved to a metropolitan. And don’t get me wrong, I love Munich. It’s crazy green and has this village feeling, but…it’s not home. It’s too big.And I’ve noticed lately that my heart started craving green. I need nature more than ever. So, if this vacation gave me anything – it gave me the nature.
Velika planina was one of those places I’ve always wanted to visit, but never took enough time to do so. Slovenia is funny – it’s so tiney that driving somewhere for an hour feels too long and this is how Velika planina always felt. Too far. Plus, this time, I was alone.
I honestly don’t know what happened, but I’ve decided to take my power back and not feel like a victim. I left to visit my mum and on the way back stopped for a short hike. It was well worth the effort!
This is an amazing little trip for the whole family. You have to try local food and enjoy the beauty of this place.
Until next time…
